Layover in LA

Posted on 03/05/2007 at 4:14 pm
Well after 24+ hours of travel I am only in LA. We woke up at 3:00AM in Perth after going to sleep at 1:30AM thanks to a night gambling at the burswood casino which just so happened to be attached to our hotel.

As we were loading the shuttle bus with our luggage and guitars some drunk australian kid (who was wearing a robe from the hotel) yelled at us that we were american cunts and all sorts of fucked up shit followed by the fact that were responsible for all the war in the world. We told him he had 3 seconds to get inside the hotel before we kicked his ass haha. Well i told him that, Jose told him he was gonna put him in the hospital.

So we flew from Perth, AU to Sydney (4 hours) - few hour layover - Sydney to LA (13 hours) - 5 hour layover then we fly to NJ. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

apparently its snowing and windy (gusts up to 40mph) in newark. Arrivals are averaging delays of 2 hours. We were not suppoose to get home till 11:00PM as it is but now im hoping to be in bed by 1am.

I think we may just have to start drinking the airport if this is gonna be delayed anymore. It helps pass the time and I hear it really is good for your liver. I think our tech groff as well as tom will probably join me. Groff is currently sleeping across the airport floor like we have been stuck here for days.

So on a totally random note I did something kind of cool this tour. I tried to only listen to music that I grew up listening too. The goal of it was to really remember how it felt when I went to see bands play when I was younger and to put myself back in that spot while I was out doing what I had always wanted to do. It worked pretty well. The coolest part was playing with some of those bands I was listening to. The famous Jarrett overplaying songs list goes something like this:

Most played with 24 plays just on my itunes - Unwritten Law - Teenage Suicide
Cailin follows at 50% with 12 on my itunes

I rocked some MXPX hits like Move to Bremerton, Doin Time and Buildings Tumble. I also bought some older Blink songs off ITunes. Most played was Anthem Part Two off take off your pants and jacket.

well for now I'm gonna go. Let me know if anyone is reading this shit. If so I will keep posting cause I am kind of enjoying it..

btw some asshole father is right infront of me with his child on a leash...what a douche

Plain white G's

Well I have not updated this thing in quite a bit. Let's start with the fact I haven't had a Diet Lemon Snapple since I left the Airport on Jan 22nd. Other than that the UK has been pretty awesome. Manchester has been the best show to date but I think this final stretch especially tonight in Leeds and the London shows will be pretty awesome. We have been sharing a bus with the Plain white t's and it has been a good time. I have enjoyed hanging out with them when they are awake. Hellogoodbye and their crew have also been very friendly and helpful. All in all a great tour. Everything is sold out, the kids have been great singing along and supporting us. I am already looking forward to coming back.

Well here I am . It is a monday night....9:19pm here in Chicago (thats 10:19PM to you jersey folks). Almost everyone in the HC/QD party went out bowling tonight but I have decided to stay in with nick (thats erins brother). I am having a lame night of watching Football/Prison break dvds and eating a lot of food (whenever the fuck it arrives). It takes about 30 min. to get into our hotel because it is actually part of the airport here in o'hare. Plus with all the extra alerts for terrorism the security is tight (they searched our van and trailer which I'd like to add is sitting right outside the front door in valet parking haha...next to the bmws and benz's). It has been a nice day off. We were on for the past 11 days and it was our first break from that. Well my food is here, im out.

See a Doctor and get rid of it

well here we are in tucson arizona. we just finished our tour with house of fools, paulson and daphne loves the kentucky derby. (cause no one has ever heard that before). So anyway that tour should of been called the nice guy tour because every single person on it was really just a down to earth nice guy. It was pretty cool. Yestarday we started up on the june tour with as tall as lions and the junior varsity. Just Surrender is also on that tour but those turds don't start until L.A. It was a cool first night and I must say the dudes in june were pretty rad guys. I didn't really get a chance to meet man of the atal dudes and the junior varsity we have known for a few years. Seems like it will be another nice guy tour though. Today we head to phoenix arizona and then it is off to california for a few days.

A Corn In Every Shart?

Well it is nearing that time again. We leave to start some good old fashion touring this Friday. We are doing 2 1/2 weeks of co-headlining with Daphne Loves Derby, Paulson & House of Fools....Following that were going to be direct support June also with Just Surrender, The Junior Varsity & As Tall As lions. I am looking forward to both of these tours. It's going to be a cool month because we know a few of the bands on each tour which is always nice. Otherwise you usually have 3-7 days of like awkward communication with the other bands until you all have one drinking night together. I recall Jason from Just Surrender broke the Ice when I asked for a beer and he passed me a Keystone Light. It sealed the deal outside a venue in Ohio. After that I think they drank all our beer..Oh no..my fault that was Ryan From Tokyo Rose drinking anything he got his hands on.

This tour should be call cause were mixing in some fun different shows throughout the tour. Were playing the mainstage at this huge ESPN Paintball championship. Were playing a secret show or two as well.

In other news I have been busting some serious ass on getting this Houston Calls documentary DVD together. I am hoping to finish up the entire Australian segment today. It has some really cool stuff in it though. Once it's finished we will be announcing how were releasing it.

Well that is all for now. As I say with every tour I am going to attempt to update this thing quite often. We will see how long that lasts.

haha

This may be the best picture ever.

I am sorry. I am not one to post stupid shit but this is spectacular. Otherwise so you know we have been writing some new songs and working on some fun things for the live show. I am also putting together an awesome documentary of the band thus far. Got some cool plans for it too!

Final aussie stop

Well I am sitting here in my hotel room in Brisbane. Tonight we flew from Sydney to Brisbane and were jetted right to dinner as soon as we got off the plane. At dinner we met up with the YC guys and AJ (the guy who is responsible for bringing us over here. he rules). Dinner was amazing and then we headed back to the hotel. Our hotel is also amazing. I have my own room tonight overlooking the water and an amazing bridge. Quite a view. Been an incredible trip and tommrrow should be a great final show. I will miss Australia but I am looking forward to being home. I love it all.

One really rad note...When I started playing in a band in 1996 my goal was always to take a plane flight with my band. I just thought that would be amazing. I didn't take a flight for 7+ years of being in a band. Today I did the math and I have taken 14 actual plane flights with my band members in under a year and a half of signing a record deal. Pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

Fuck Barricades - A think piece from Sydney Australia haha

Posted on 03/20/2006 at 3:08 am
Well well well. I am laying down in my hotel room here in Sydney Australia. Besides last night this trip has been great. We played for 3000 kids in melbourne, AU at 1 show. Then another 400 that same night. It was insane. Last night was a downer. To make a long story short the barricades broke during the opening bands 2nd song. They had to go and get new ones brought in and set up (about a 2 hour process). So due to all of this we ended up not getting to play due to time issues and such. Pretty big letdown when there are 3000 amazing kids in the crowd going crazy. However the night managed to get a bit better. When I walked in the hotel I met Dez (misfits now, previously black flag) and Robo from the misfits. They were some of the nicest dudes ever and it was just so amazing to meet a band like them. And then to see how friendly they are. Then some of us and some YC dudes did some shots to celebrate meeting The Misfits....then we did some more shots...and a few more after that. Then in the morning I went to the lobby and ran into Dez and Robo again. We started talking a bit and then Jerry (a founding member of the misfits) showed up. Being their from jersey it turned out we know some of the same people (jesse cannon is a favorite of both of us...he's the badass that recorded our 2nd sampler. www.jessecannon.com if you are in a band and looking to record). After that we did an interview for MTVs Aussies TRL with Maz. Everyone involved at the interview was so friendly and cool. And I was asked questions about beavis and butthead. Can't beat that. After that most of us hit up some lunch on the streets of Sydney (had a nice bottle of red for the table and some chicken parm!). We walked around a bit after that and then headed back to the hotel where we just watched Yellowcard live on tv. Been a pretty great trip thanks for reading this long post. wahoo!
